Pumpkin Spice Caramel Rolls

Most of the time, you don't mess with a good recipe.
Then there is the time you get a wild hair up your butt and do mess with a good recipe.

This is one of those times.
The Carmel Roll recipe is one my mom made all the time when I was growing up and I added just a little of something super special. It made them the best to "I-could-die-right-now-and-it-would-be-all-good" - yes, that good!

(Print)
What you need:
  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, plus some
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice, plus some (this is the added ingredient!)
Directions:
  1. Thaw your bread dough. I normally do mine in a loaf pan and cover it with saran wrap.
  2. It only takes a few hours.
  3. Prepare your carmel, by bringing water, butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar JUST to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat and pour into a 9x13-inch glass baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice over the caramel.
  6. Roll out your dough into a rectangle.
  7. Sprinkle dough with cinnamon, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice, to your preference.
  8. Roll up and cut into 2-inch wide slices.
  9. Place in the baking dish and cover with saran wrap.
  10. Let rise for an hour or two, so they are all touching each other and ginormous!
  11. Bake at 350 for 13 to 15 minutes.
  12. Serve carmel-side up. I dare you not to scarf down the whole pan!
