Man Food Week: Popcorn Chicken

Last month, I did pumpkin week. I don't remember when I decided to start doing themed weeks, but it may have been a way to get some recipes made with the same theme. I decided since football season is well under way that a little man food was a necessity! I'm hoping to get my hubs to narrow down his favorites list and share with y'all later on this week what he considers to be the best man food I make :)

This first recipe is bound to be not only a man-pleasing recipe, but a kid-pleasing, crowd-pleasing, family favorite. We made some without buffalo sauce for the kids - and both Nick and I tested out the recipe plain too and the seasoning is just extraordinary! It's a perfect blend and great without extra sauce. Of course, tossing it with buffalo sauce was just out of this world. These are going to be made a lot. They are great for an appetizer, but also great with fries, potato skins, etc for a delicious dinner!

Popcorn Chicken. Incredible without sauce, but such a man-pleaser tossed with buffalo sauce! #chicken #manfood #spicy #gameday #appetizer

What you need:
  • 3 chicken breasts, cut in bite size pieces
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten with a dash of hot sauce.
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • **Buffalo sauce for tossing (I did some without for the kids)
Directions:

Heat oil to 350* until a little flour dropped in will sizzle if you don't have a thermometer.

In a bowl, mix together flour, salt, chili powder, garlic, paprika, and black pepper.

Dip your chicken pieces into the egg, then the flour mixture.

Fry for 8 to 10 minutes in batches.

Remove to a paper towel.

Add some buffalo sauce to a bowl.
Add chicken and toss until coated.
