Countdown to 2021: Best Dessert

Counting down the best dessert recipes of 2020 to ring in the new year!

Last year I was surprised by the amount of cakes I had made and thought maybe I'd have more cookies on the Countdown this year. Again, lots of cakes. One cookie recipe, one brownie recipe made the list. I only posted two cookie recipes in 2020. I'm not sure why I am not making more cookies because they are way faster than cakes and easier to store.
  1. Red Velvet Sheet Cake - I never in a million years thought I'd like and post a red velvet recipe because I don't like red velvet anything. This cake ended up being ridiculously good. I loved it.
  2. White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake - I made this for my sister-in-law for her birthday and it's high up there on my list of favorite cheesecakes! Plus it looks so pretty!
  3. Copycat Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake - I was really excited but nervous to make this copycat from my childhood and it was every bit as good as I remembered.
  4. Buckeye Cheesecake Cake - This was Matthew's birthday cake in 2019 - it has layers of chocolate cake, peanut butter cheesecake, plus peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache. And on top of all of that is buckeye candies (peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate).
  5. Homemade Apple Cobbler - I adore cobbler and wanted to make it all the time. Maybe it's because it's cake with ice cream? I'm not sure but it's fantastic.
  6. Ultimate Oreo Brownie Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake - I actually didn't get to eat this cake, but Nick did. It's insane but a lot of fun and Nick said it was really really good.
  7. Layered Pumpkin Pie Toffee Cheesecake - You get pumpkin pie and cheesecake all in one. What's not to love?
  8. Peanut Butter Lover's Cookies - Peanut butter cookies with mini Reese's, peanut butter chips, and honey roasted peanuts. So perfect because you got soft and crunchy, salty and sweet.
  9. Ultimate Reese's Brownies - Homemade brownies are always kinda meh to me, but I struggled to not eat this whole pan of these. I wonder if it's the peanut butter and chocolate combo that did me in haha
  10. Gingerbread Poke Cake - I made quite a few poke cakes in 2019 and this gingerbread one was yummy with caramel sauce and chopped gingersnaps in there.
