The one thing I really loved about Ft. Gordon (among other things) was that there were Cinnabons EVERYWHERE. Ft. Drum has Dunkin' Donuts...blehhhh. I miss Cinnabon a bunch. Here's how I coped with my broken heart:
(Print)
What you need:
Rolls:
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 cup milk, warm
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 1/2 tbsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened or melted
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cream cheese
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions:
- For the cinnamon rolls: Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk.
- Add sugar, butter, salt, eggs, and flour.
- Mix well until a dough is formed.
- Knead gently into a large ball on a lightly floured surface.
- Put dough in a bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
- Roll dough out onto a lightly floured surface into a 21x16-inch rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- For the filling: Spread butter onto dough.
- Mix together sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the top of the butter.
- From the long end, tightly roll up the dough. Pinch at the seam to seal.
- Slice into 1 3/4-inch thick slices.
- Place into a lightly greased baking pan. Let rise, uncovered, for 1 hour.
- Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the icing: beat together all ingredients until fluffy.
- Spread on top of warm rolls.
Made this recipe again on 10/19/2011 - it turned out much better using my Kitchenaid Mixer. They are DEAD ON!
