Baked Vanilla Donuts
I don't know why, but I tend to forget about how quick homemade donuts are to make. And every time I finally get around to making them, I kick myself for not doing it sooner. Most of the recipes I've tried so far are cake donut style, which is my preference. Once the batter is ready, it's just 8 minutes of cooking time. That's it! Faster than a lot of other breakfast recipes out there for sure. These are super simple and super quick. You have to try them!

S'mores Baked Donuts
These baked donuts are double glazed and then topped with marshmallows and graham crackers!
I could have sworn that I have made s'mores donuts before, but apparently not. I always forget how easy and quick donuts are to make and so I was really excited about these and they did not disappoint. They have a white glaze, then a chocolate glaze, then marshmallow topping, and graham cracker crumbs. Seriously...these are so good!Friday, May 15, 2020
Butterfinger Maple Bars
Quick and easy homemade maple bars topped with a drizzle of chocolate and chopped Butterfingers for an out of this world breakfast treat!
The last donut recipe I posted was the Maple Bars recipe that this one uses. The original recipe creator used leftover maple bars and just warmed them in the microwave and added the chocolate and Butterfingers. I don't like maple bars typically, but I enjoy this homemade version with refrigerated buttermilk biscuits. I knew the addition of Butterfingers and chocolate would be insanely good and, of course, it was and the whole family loved them!

Maple Bars
Who knew making this classic breakfast donut at home was so easy?
It's the most wonderful time of the year: AUTUMN! It's still 90 degrees in Tennessee, but I can still daydream of cooler weather that usually comes in October. Fall makes me think of pumpkin everything, caramel apples, and maple foods. I appreciate anything pumpkin. I am not a fan of maple really. I'm a weirdo who will eat a small amount of the fake sugary maple syrup (just enough to give it flavor, no extra on my plate), so I didn't expect to like these. On the other hand, Nick loves maple. LOVES it. The real stuff, not the fake stuff. He loves maple candies, maple beer, maple vape juice, maple bacon...just all the maple. These were more for him because they are his favorite donut. In the end, I actually really enjoyed them too. The flavor to the icing isn't overwhelming to me and made for an absolutely delicious topping to the fried biscuit portion of the donut.

Strawberry Shortcake Donuts #FantasticalFoodFight
Welcome to another Food Fight! Fantastical Food Fight is a group of food bloggers who will get a theme or ingredient each month and make some sort of variation for it. It could be traditional or nontraditional and can be found in a cookbook, on a blog, or be a blogger's own creation! For more details, check out this page.
This month's Fantastical Food Fight theme is STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. I wasn't sure what I wanted to make for this month's food fight until I was meal planning. I was looking through my breakfast board on Pinterest and saw this recipe and knew it was the one. I was excited when I discovered it was an easy breakfast because I have not been very good at making breakfast recipes lately. These donuts are basically like Chinese donuts. They are ridiculously easy to make and they are quick. All you need is a tube of refrigerated biscuits, cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, and strawberries. Plus oil to fry them in. The biscuit dough ends up light and fluffy. The strawberries and whipped cream were literally perfect with them. I could have eaten a whole batch by myself!

Peppermint Hot Cocoa Crunch Donuts
Why not enjoy a little sweet breakfast with candy canes, chocolate, and marshmallows?!
Each year, I try to make a really good breakfast for Christmas morning. I typically make cinnamon rolls and wake up way too early to do it, so last year I wanted something simpler. My kids love donuts and I knew that peppermint chocolate ones with marshmallows would be really special for them. I thought they were pretty fantastic too. I loved the chocolate donut with slight peppermint flavor added to it and the chocolate glaze too! The glaze was wonderful.

Fave Chocolate Donuts #Choctoberfest
One bite of this breakfast treat and you'll understand why they are named Fave Chocolate Donuts
It's time again for Choctoberfest and I'm excited to participate for the second time because CHOCOLATE. I am looking forward to finding all sorts of new chocolate recipes from my fellow bloggers.
Homemade donuts are really easy to make and I love making all different kinds. My favorite are still cake donuts though and I do love using cake mix to make donuts. This recipe is not made from cake mix, but I would still consider them to be cake donuts. They were wonderfully moist because of the addition of sour cream and they were rich and chocolatey. I double dipped mine in the glaze because I didn't want to glaze the entire donut. I'm not brave enough to try and manage that LOL

Triple Chocolate Baked Donuts #Choctoberfest
Breakfast just got a little sweeter with these chocolatey homemade donuts
I am incredibly picky with donuts. In fact, about the only donut I will eat is a cake donut. I absolutely love homemade donuts and haven't met one that I didn't like. I think it may be because most all of them have been cake donuts - no yeast donuts for me! These ones are devilishly good. I thought the glaze would be overkill, but it's fingerlicking good. We did sprinkles on top instead of more chocolate, but I could see toffee bits being amazing as well.
AND these beautifully dipped donuts were done with the help of my 8 year old daughter - who also helped with the sprinkles too. I think she did a fantastic job! Be sure to visit the end of my post for more of the #Choctoberfest recipes from my blogging friends :)

Berliners #SecretRecipeClub
It's time again for Secret Recipe Club reveal day for my group, Group D! What is Secret Recipe Club? It's a bunch of food bloggers separated into four groups that post once a month on a designated Monday. Each month, we are paired with another foodie from our group secretly (hence the name). We then pick a recipe (or two or more) from that blog and make it. On our reveal day, we reveal whose blog we had and what recipe(s) we chose all at the same time. It's like a Secret Santa every month, but with food and blogs! It's a great deal of fun :)
This month I was assigned to Tara of Tara's Multicultural Table. I have been looking forward to having Tara's blog because I wanted to be a little adventurous. Tara's blog boasts so many different cuisines from Filipino to Greek to Australian and everything in between. I suppose I could have gone and done something more out of my comfort zone, but I was definitely intrigued by the picture for European cuisine on her recipe index [see here].
I did still pick out a few others as a back up, in case I royally screwed up the European recipe. There is Gnocchi Parisienne [French], Lemon Sage Chicken, and Loco Moco [Hawaiian]. Arme Riddere [Norwegian] was almost my pick, but I wasn't sure fresh strawberries would be any good at the store. In the end, I chose the German Berliners. They are these fabulous little German doughnuts, but I must direct you to Tara's post because she talks all about the traditions of Karneval where fried foods, like Berliners, are popular.
Tara had talked about different fillings for these fried pastries, including chocolate and different jams, and that is where I put my little spin on it and used Nutella for my filling. They turned out wonderfully. I used my deep fryer, so they cooked more quickly than if I had done it in a pan..so it really just depends on your method as to how quickly they cook. I always keep an eye on food when I fry it because it's one of those things where one minute they are almost done and you turn back to them and they are way way too fried!

Banana Bread Donuts
A recipe on a Saturday?! WHAT?! I have felt so bad about my inconsistency lately with pregnancy + closing in on the end of my college term + moving, that I just had to share another recipe this week. I had every intention of this one happening on Wednesday, but just never wrote it up and then I realized Thursday that I had lost a day. Anyways...
Banana bread is one of my all-time favorite treats - I don't think I've met a banana bread yet that I wouldn't eat. I've had a variety of different kinds, so when I found this recipe for donuts, I knew I had to try it.
In the original recipe, the blogger, Melissa, used cream cheese frosting on top. I personally did not - mostly out of laziness, but I felt that they were just fine without the frosting. But at the same time, I really would love to try them WITH frosting because I'm sure they are even better that way. They still maintain their donutness, but they totally capture the banana bread quality and that is just the best durn breakfast you could ask for!

Toffee Struesel Baked Chocolate Donuts
I am going to have a really unpopular opinion right now.
I'm not a big donut fan.
Krispy Kreme original glazed donuts....GROSS! Everyone I know loves them. Sorry, KK :(
I'm in love with homemade donuts though...especially cake donuts. KK and DD have amazing cake donuts. I get kind of bummed when someone brings a variety box of donuts and there are zero cake donuts. Don't I just sound like a brat? :)
Again, cake donuts...homemade donuts - HECK YES! I gobble them up. These baked chocolate donuts with streusel topping are kind of cake-like. They are unbelievably good. The buttery toffee goodness of the streusel on top...oh my goodness! YES! Y'all have got to try these!

Maple Bacon Donuts
As per the Awesome Wifie Code, I have been experimenting with different maple recipes before Nick gets home from Afghanistan. He loves maple everything! Me personally, I will eat maple nut goodies (I think that's what they are called), but that's about it. I barely put syrup on my pancakes and waffles, while Nick and the kids drench theirs. I'm the weirdo in the family. He even for a while smoked maple-flavored nicotine juice in his e-cig - which by the way, I hated. The smell of maple makes me nauseated and apparently it made his coworker hungry all day long for breakfast! :)
I love making donuts. They are such an easy thing to make and there's so much variety. I knew these would be a huge hit with the kids because they'll eat anything with bacon. These are more dense donuts instead of light and fluffy, but it really goes with the maple and bacon. I'm hoping to make them again soon when Nick is home :)

Nutella Donuts
Today is Fantastical's 3rd blog birthday! Sometimes it's hard to believe it's been that long already, but I love sharing what my adventures from recipe hoarding have brought to my kitchen :) This month, I decided to take a semi-break from making a ton of new recipes like I normally do since I have enough recipes to post into November. I'm going to focus on two cookbooks I have for review and picture retakes of recipes from when I first started blogging. So watch out on the Fantastical social media outlets for updated pictures of old favorites over the course of next month.
I've recently become a bit of a Nutella recipe fiend. I'm not big on it by itself, but I love foods flavored with it. These are soft, fluffy Nutella donuts dipped in a Nutella glaze. Surprisingly, it's not overwhelming. It's just bombtastic. Yes, so good that you have to make up words to describe it! Probably one of my favorite donuts to date and one you definitely need to try!

Cookies & Cream Donuts
I've said it before, donuts are probably my favorite breakfast to make because they are so quick. These Cookies & Cream donuts are made with Devil's food cake mix - meaning they are extra sinful :) When my kids spied Oreos on the kitchen counter, they definitely knew they were in for a treat and were jumping up and down.
I loved the consistency of these donuts that were basically cake donuts. Cake donuts are pretty much the only actual donuts I'll eat. I'm picky. The glaze plus the Oreos crumbled on top made these donuts hard to stop eating. I'm not going to lie. I'm pretty sure I ate 4 of these for breakfast that morning. It could have been more.

Carrot Cake Donuts
When I first saw these on Jocelyn's blog, I was seriously in awe. They were so gorgeous and seriously...carrot cake! A perfect excuse to have carrot cake for breakfast. These donuts were every bit as delicious as they look. They were soft and moist and the frosting was incredible.

Snickerdoodle Cake Donuts
I still am testing out a few donut recipes cautiously. Much like muffins, they are easy and fast. AND there are many, many variations. After making snickerdoodle cookies for the first time, I really wanted to try out this snickerdoodle donut recipe. Unfortunately, I had run out of milk and didn't realize it, so I didn't get to try the glaze on it. However, they were still completely amazing!
This recipe comes from Big Mama's Home Kitchen. Rhondi shares some great recipes on her blog, including: Tex Mex Chicken Chili, Chocolate Chip Reese's Cup Skillet Cookie, and Jalapeno Popper Egg Rolls. Go check out her blog - you won't be disappointed!

Funfetti Cake Donuts
I'm not really a fan of donuts...unless they are CAKE donuts. I love chocolate cake donuts and blueberry cake donuts already...I kind of figured I would like these too. :)
