What you need:
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups raisins
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- In a small pan, bring raisins and water to a boil. Cook for 3 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
- In a mixing bowl, cream shortening; add sugar gradually.
- Then add eggs and vanilla.
- Combine rest of ingredients (all dry) and add into wet ingredients gradually.
- Stir in raisins (with water).
- Drop by the teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 350* oven for 12 to 14 minutes.
