The Chewy

Ahhh...the infamous Chewy from Alton Brown. I've been wanting to try this forever. It was a delicious recipe! I think it's tied with the Tollhouse recipe. It's a good filling cookie and the bread flour makes it a bit more cake-like.

(Print)
What you need:
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Direction:
Heat oven to 375. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave.
Sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside.

Pour melted butter into mixer bowl and then add sugar and brown sugar. Cream on medium speed.

Add egg, yolk, milk and vanilla and mix until well combined.
Slowly incorporate dry ingredients into sugar and butter mixture.

Stir in chocolate chips.

Chill dough, then scoop onto parchment-lined baking sheets.

Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown, checking after 5 minutes and rotating.*
*I did mine for 9-10 minutes. Just make sure that you keep a constant eye on them. It'll all depend on size of cookie you make and your oven!
