Garlic it up with these copycat double burgers that you can make at home!
I must admit that I have only had Steak 'n Shake a couple of times. I had never really heard anything good about them. I did try a local one, but then stopped because apparently they had served undercooked chicken tenders and then refused to refund the meal. I rather like making copycat recipes at home. They tend to be way better than what comes at the fast food place and so here I am making a copycat of something I have not tried at the restaurant. And you don't have to ask me twice about making a recipe that has garlic in the title! We were in love with these burgers - so garlicky!

What you need:
For the burger seasoning:
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp. onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tsp. minced garlic cloves
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 8 slices American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Desired toppings
- For the burger seasoning: Combine all ingredients together.
- For the garlic butter: Melt butter in a small saucepan and add garlic. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- For the burgers: Meanwhile, divide ground beef into 8 balls.
- Place ground beef balls on a skillet heated over medium-high heat. Use a spatula to press the balls down to thing patties. Season with burger seasoning and cook until browned on each side.
- Immediately after removing from the skillet, add a slice of cheese to each patty.
- While burgers are cooking, brush garlic butter on buns and toast in a skillet until golden brown.
- Optional: Brush the tops of the hamburger buns with garlic butter and sprinkle with a little garlic salt.
- Serve 2 patties to each bun with desired toppings.
