This year is going to be a little rough as far as Thanksgivings go. Each year, we've had a large Thanksgiving with our military family at someone else's house and it's been amazing and fun. This would actually be our last year to celebrate with our military family, but most are deployed or have moved away. Nick is deployed too, so this is going to be a quiet Thanksgiving, which absolutely bums me out.
Last year, I was tasked with the bird and I went ham on it...well, bacon :)
What's amazing about the bacon is not only is it bacon...but it self-bastes while it cooks. It's easily the best turkey that I've ever had. Everyone raved about how good it was too! So if you're looking for a new way to make that Thanksgiving main course - look no further!

What you need:
- Turkey
- Bacon
- EVOO
- Any seasonings you want to use (I believe for me it was seasoned salt, pepper, garlic, parsley, paprika)
- Rinse your turkey and pat it dry. Place in roasting pan and tuck in wings.
- Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with seasonings.
- Wrap in bacon. I did a criss-cross fashion, mostly for aesthetics.
- Bake at 450* for 30 minutes. Be aware that this could cause your smoke alarm to go off which is fun at 5am. You can cover it with foil to try and prevent this from happening and make sure you have your fan going and maybe a window or two open.
- Reduce heat to 350* for 2 to 3 hours. Check the internal temperature. Once your bird reaches 180* - it's done!
