A quick pasta dish with sausage and red onions - and mushrooms if you like them!
I really like the simplicity of this recipe. The original recipe had mushrooms (you cook them with the onions if that's something you want), but only Cami eats mushrooms... so no mushrooms here. If you want to make this vegetarian, the original poster said you could sub in the sausage for more mushrooms and red onions. So it's super flexible to what you want.
What you need:
- 1 lb. angel hair pasta
- 1 lb. sweet Italian sausage
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups chopped red onion
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp. fennel seeds
- 1/2 cup shredded Romano cheese
Directions:
- Cook pasta according to box directions, drain well.
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat, crumbling as you go. Remove and set aside, rinse out skillet.
- Add oil to skillet over medium heat and then add onions with seasonings. Cook for 5 minutes, then add sausage and heat through.
- Toss cooked pasta with sausage, onions, and cheese.

I love sausage and pasta with basil for seasoning, so this Italian Sausage Pasta with Basil Cream Sauce is a great recipe - plus it has lots of cheese and tomatoes in it too. This Italian Sausage with Bow Tie Pasta from Love Bakes Good Cakes looks so yummy and is another easy recipe that is perfect for any busy night.
