What you need:
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 onion, halved and sliced into thin half moons
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced into thin half moons
- 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
- 2 tbsp. A1 steak sauce
- 1 lb. deli roast beef, cut into 2-inch strips
- Salt and pepper
- 4 sub rolls, split apart (I used Kaiser rolls)
- 8 slices Provolone cheese
Preheat broiler.
In a large skillet, melt butter. Then add onion and cook until golden brown and soft, for about 8 minutes.
In a large skillet, melt butter. Then add onion and cook until golden brown and soft, for about 8 minutes.
Add garlic and oregano. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add A-1 and roast beef. Stir to coat beef and cook for about 2 minutes.
Season to taste with salt and pepper. I added my peppers last so they were still a bit crunchy.
Place rolls on a baking sheet. Add meat mixture.
Top with cheese and broil for about 2 minutes, until cheese is melted.
Watch very closely! One thing I dislike about my broiler is how close it sits to the tray - gas oven with the broiler underneath. So...of course, I burned my bread :/

How sweet of you to try out recipes that you think your hubby would like while he is deployed :) Those cheesesteaks look great. I may have to make some. I'd love for you to come by and show off your recipe at These Chicks Cooked Recipe Spotlight today. Have a blessed day :)
