Delicious bars with loads of cinnamon sugar that taste just like a churro!
I have yet to have an actual churro but I have many churro-flavored treats or things that resemble churros in some way - there's a Cinnamon Toast Crunch churro cereal that is so good! I love dessert bars and these are great. Lots of cinnamon sugar goodness!
What you need:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat and bring to a boil. Stir until it turns an amber color. Remove from heat and let cool for 20 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix together cooled browned butter and brown sugar.
- Add eggs, vanilla, baking powder, and salt. Stir until smooth.
- Add flour and mix until just combined.
- In a small bowl, whisk together granulated sugar and cinnamon.
- Add foil to a 9x13-inch pan and coat with nonstick spray.
- Sprinkle half the cinnamon sugar into the prepared pan.
- Press dough into the pan. Then sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon sugar.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack before cutting.
