One bite of this breakfast treat and you'll understand why they are named Fave Chocolate Donuts #recipe #breakfast #chocolate #Choctoberfest #donuts

It's time again for Choctoberfest and I'm excited to participate for the second time because CHOCOLATE. I am looking forward to finding all sorts of new chocolate recipes from my fellow bloggers.

Homemade donuts are really easy to make and I love making all different kinds. My favorite are still cake donuts though and I do love using cake mix to make donuts. This recipe is not made from cake mix, but I would still consider them to be cake donuts. They were wonderfully moist because of the addition of sour cream and they were rich and chocolatey. I double dipped mine in the glaze because I didn't want to glaze the entire donut. I'm not brave enough to try and manage that LOL

What you need:
For the donuts:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 6 Tbsp. sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
For the glaze:
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
  1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and baking soda.
  2. In a smaller bowl, beat together vanilla, egg, sour cream, milk, and oil.
  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  4. Spoon or pipe into a greased donut pan.
  5. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 8 minutes or until tops spring back when you press them.
  6. Let cool while you make the glaze.
  7. Whisk together all glaze ingredients until smooth. Dunk donuts in the glaze and then place on a wire rack to set for about 5 minutes. If you want, dunk your donuts a second time in the glaze and then let set once again.

Recipe from Buns in My Oven

The last time I shared a donut recipe was last year for Choctoberfest and it was this Triple Chocolate Baked Donuts recipe. Something I would really like to master is donut holes, so this Chocolate Glazed Donut Holes recipe from Shugary Sweets is on my radar.
