This stromboli has loads of cheese with pepperoni and salami inside and is topped with garlic herb butter.
I fall prey to the Facebook cooking videos, but thankfully, I've had pretty good luck with them. This one was from Tasty and it's basically a stromboli and that's what they refer to it as in the directions. I personally think my favorite part of this recipe and one that makes it stand out from similar recipes is the garlic butter that has herbs in it. I've gotten into using mini pepperonis instead of chopping larger ones or having whole pepperonis fall out when you're trying to get a bite :)
What you need:
For the roll:
- 1 recipe pizza dough (my favorite)
- 1 pkg. mini pepperoni slices
- 1 pkg. salami slices
- 8 slices mozzarella cheese, cut in half
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, chopped
- 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- Pizza sauce for serving
For the garlic butter:
- 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions:
- Roll dough out into a wide rectangle.
- Alternate pepperoni, sliced mozzarella, and salami until the center is covered (leave 1 1/2 inches on the edge).
- Top with shredded mozzarella, roasted red pepper, red pepper flakes, and oregano.
- Tuck the ends in and then roll the stromboli up. Place on a greased foil lined sheet pan.
- Stir together the butter, garlic, parsley, pepper, and salt.
- Brush the stromboli with the butter.
- Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Slice and serve with pizza sauce.
Not sure about you, but I loved school pizza in elementary school and was super excited to find a School Pizza Copycat recipe. If you're looking for another stromboli but want something different, check out this Philly Cheese Steak Stromboli from Gimme Delicious.
