Grinch Sugar Cookie Bars

Your heart will grow three sizes when you make these super easy bars and get to enjoy them over the holidays!

If you notice, this recipe is also in absolutely horrendous lighting...in a foil pan. It was also made last Christmas when we were in an airbnb that was not as stocked for holiday meals as was advertised. Unfortunately, I did not bring my food coloring with me and was unable to find a good Grinch green on the fly a few days before Christmas at a big box store.

However, the takeaway here is that this is a super easy recipe that can be thrown together super quickly and if you can find some chonky heart sprinkles - even better! Just a very classic sugar cookie bar! :)

What you need:

  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) sugar cookie mix (plus ingredients as called for on pouch)
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Green food coloring
  • Red heart sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Make sugar cookie batter according to pouch instructions and press into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
  2. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes or until edges are just golden brown.
  3. Cool completely.
  4. Add green food coloring to vanilla frosting and mix until incorporated.
  5. Frost cookie bars and cut into squares. Add a heart sprinkle to each bar.

Another fun sugar cookie treat that I love is Peppermint Kiss Sugar Cookies - they are super adorable and fun to make. If you prefer a more subtle holiday treat, these Maple Sugar Cookies from Karen's Kitchen Stories are lovely.
