Countdown to 2013: 2012 Recap

Photobucket

Happy New Year, everyone! I've gone through Breakfast, Soup/Bread, Main Dish, Appetizers & Snacks, Desserts, and Reader Favorites. There were no beverages or side dishes in there, so I'm sharing a few of them and some that don't really fit in one category specifically.

Butterbeer - for all you fellow Potterheads! Also: see post for my Hogwarts letter!

Crispy Chicken with Scallion Waffles - this was the first recipe I made with my new waffle iron (the $20 one I talked about in my best breakfast post). The chicken is unfreaking-believable! We ate this for dinner, but I think it may be classified as breakfast? I'm not sure.

Hot Dog Stuffed Pretzels - another recipe that I'm not sure if you would call a meal or a snack. Either way they are the bomb dot com. The pretzel part is made with pizza dough :)

Cupcake Milkshakes - literally tastes like a funfetti cake. Om nom nom.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce - on the quest to find the perfect homemade spaghetti sauce...and I found it. It's meaty and savory and tasty and if you don't make this recipe, you are just missing out.

DIY Pizza Lunchables - I made these right before my 5 year old started school and let me just tell you, I make a huge batch and freeze the dough. I pull it out on mornings that I'm just not all together yet and need to make him a quick lunch to take to school. He loves these.

Green Bean Bacon Bundles - I think it's safe to say this is our favorite side dish of 2012. It's very simple to make, little to no effort - you just wrap, brush with a mixture of brown sugar, garlic, and butter, and put them in the oven. They are super tasty.

Kamikaze Fries - While watching Triple D, I saw Suicide Fries and knew I had to make them. I couldn't find the recipe online, so I rewatched the clip and wrote down as much as possible to come up with a copycat recipe. They are spicy and delicious.

Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappe - Confession time: Starbucks is not my favorite.
Their coffee is bitter and gross. But I can't say no to chocolate and cookies...
so here is a homemade (much better tasting) Starbucks drink.

Asparagus Gruyere Tart - Our second favorite side dish of 2012 is my last Secret Recipe Club post for the year. It went perfectly with steak and also gruyere cheese is incredible!

I'm hoping to start doing some collections of recipes in 2013. But more details on that to come. I don't want to spread myself too thin. Also just wanted to share that there will be more themed weeks each month in the new year! I have the next few months planned out: January - Cookie Dough, February - Chocolate, and March - Beer/Homebrewing, that will include guest posting from my husband :)

Here are 2012's:

Happy New Year again and thank you for all your support!
