Skillet Taco Macaroni

I cannot stress how delicious this recipe is...at all.
It sounds like nothing special, but do not doubt the epic flavor behind these everyday ingredients :)

(Print)
What you need:
  • 1 lb. extra lean ground sirloin
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 16 oz. tomato sauce
  • 16 oz. water (use can from tomato sauce)
  • 16 oz. Rotel, undrained (they come in 10 oz. cans so I used 2 full cans)
  • 3 cups elbow macaroni (I used shells - because they are more awesome), uncooked
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. dried cilantro
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions:
In a large skillet, brown ground sirloin and onion; drain if needed.

Add tomato sauce, water, Rotel, macaroni and seasonings. Stir and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to medium-low and cover.
Simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring a couple times.
I had to turn up the heat a little to make sure the pasta cooked.
Add milk and cheddar cheese and stir until cheese melts completely.
