Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Yum
I have been searching for the certain special spaghetti sauce that would make me swear away Prego forever and I finally found it. My husband had been on an Italian sausage kick, so I thought while he was in the field, I would try a spaghetti sauce with it and see how good/subpar it was. Unbelievable. It's the best I've ever eaten and I love spaghetti. My dying dish better be spaghetti or I will raise cane in the afterlife! I love that this also used turkey instead of ground beef and it was ultra meaty not ultra saucy! :)

What you need:
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground turkey

  • 1 can tomato paste (6 oz.)
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes (15 oz.)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can tomato sauce (8 oz.)
  • Red pepper flakes
Directions:

Saute green bell and onion for 4 to 5 minutes in a little olive oil.

Season with salt and pepper. Add garlic and saute for 1 minute.
Add meats and cook until browned.

Add Italian seasoning and tomato paste and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.

Add diced tomatoes, bay leaf, tomato sauce, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 35 to 45 minutes.
