Man Dip

Yum

This hearty dip probably got its name from the amount of meat in it, but it is not strictly for men at all!

Man Dip is one of those recipes that I have made plenty of times, but never quite got a new picture to update my post. I am bound and determined to update it soon (as I write this in 2017 while updating my old posts) because it is such a ridiculously good recipe. With 2 lbs of meat, this is a meal instead of an appetizer!! Not really, but it is such a hearty appetizer. In my mind, it is perfect for game day because of its heartiness. It is called "man dip" but ladies can enjoy it too. I know that I always have because it has all my favorite things in it: onion, garlic, cheese, AND jalapenos. Those are all banging ingredients that all appetizers should have! I hope you all get to try out this recipe and enjoy it as much as we do!

What you need:
  • 1 lb. bulk sausage
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • pepper
  • 2 lbs. Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 2 cans (10 1/2 oz.) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1-2 jalapenos, chopped (I did 3, one of which I left the seeds for spiciness)
Directions:
  1. Brown sausage and ground beef with onions. Drain.
  2. Place cheese, soup, garlic salt, pepper, and jalapenos in crock pot. Set on HIGH.
  3. Mix in meat and stir occasionally until cheese is melted completely.
  4. Set on LOW and keep warm. Serve with tortilla chips.

Another go-to crockpot recipe to feed a crowd, especially for game day, is this Crockpot Chili Dogs recipe. If you're looking for a similar hearty appetizer, this Cheeseburger Dip from Chef in Training is another appetizer I have on my to-make-soon list.

Made this for Superbowl party. HUGE hit. Family has kept asking for more so making for church potluck dinner this weekend. Goes great with other things like served over a hotdog as a chili cheese dog or served over rice for a hearty meal.
