Regular old meatloaf should move over! This spicy sausage meatloaf blows it out of the water.
I love meatloaf, but unfortunately, my family gets a little sick of recipes if I make them over and over again. It kind of works out well that I have so many recipes hoarded that there is always a new one to try out. I purchased the Cravings cookbook after seeing a million and a half food snaps from Chrissy Teigen. I knew the cookbook would be wonderful and I was so right! I was excited to see this particular recipe because I had never made a meatloaf using Italian sausage. And, of course, it did not hurt at all that it was spicy.

What you need:
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 lb. hot Italian sausage
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 cup finely chopped onions
- 1 cup finely grated carrots
- 1 large egg
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- Place bread crumbs into a large bowl and cover with milk. Let soak for 5 minutes.
- Add sausage, ground beef, onions, carrots, egg, Worcestershire, salt, red pepper flakes, and pepper to bread crumbs.
- Mix gently with hands until just combined. Place in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, mix together ketchup and brown sugar. Coat meatloaf with mixture.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 1 hour until meatloaf is cooked through.
- Let cool about 15 minutes before slicing.
This spicy meatloaf is definitely going to be a go-to for meatloaf, but I also love this Favorite Meatloaf. On the lines of Italian, I am looking forward to trying this amazing Pizza Meatloaf from Cookies and Cups.
