Copycat McDonald’s Cheeseburger

Update 11/13/12: We made these again and I got a little better picture of them. They are still dead on and the whole family loves them!
Copycat McDonald's Cheeseburger. Make your own cheeseburgers that taste just like the real thing, but you control what goes in! #McDonalds #cheeseburger #burger #copycat

Every once in a while, I’ll get a craving for a greasy burger from Mickey D’s. My stomach hates me for it. I’ve had this copycat recipe for a few years and decided to try it out even though I was a bit skeptical about how close it’d be to the real deal, especially making the little oniony flavor crystals!! However, I loved these. They taste like McDonald’s but they are so much less greasy and my stomach was thankful for that.

What you need:
  • 2 tsp. dried minced onions
  • 8 tsp. boiling water
  • 1 lb. ground beef (makes 4 patties)
  • 4 plain hamburger buns
  • Salt, to taste
  • American cheese
  • Ketchup, mustard, dill pickles
Directions:
Place the dried onions in a small bowl.

Add boiling water and stir. Set aside to let them rehydrate.

Using wax paper, press the g. beef into 4 patties that are 1/8-inch thick…or as thin as you can get them.
DSCN0863
Cook burger for 2 minutes on each side, salting lightly. Add cheese and let melt.

Place patty on bun and top with ketchup, mustard, pickles and onion crystals.

In the original recipe, Heather grilled the faces of the bun. After assembly she nuked them for 15 seconds.
