Countdown to 2020: Fantastical Faves

It's time to share the best recipes of 2019 to ring in the new year!

Happy New Year! It's the start of a new decade - woohoo! I hope 2020 is the start of something great and wonderful for each and every one of you. Today's category is the perfect way to start the new year because we celebrate whatever we want to celebrate from our blogs from 2019. I always like to share my personal favorites. Check out what my blogging friends chose to share today below.

I kind of went all out with favorites today because I asked Nick to share his favorites for the first time since 2014. I could have sworn I had him pick his favorites for the last few years, but I guess not. I also let my two older kids pick their favorite recipes, so you will also find my 12 year old son, Matthew's, and 11 year old daughter, Cambria's favorite foods.

My Favorites
  1. Pork Schnitzel Sandwiches - This recipe is my favorite favorite favorite. I just love the schnitzel breading and the spicy honey mustard (who am I?!) and the pickled shallots. I like that it's served with peppery arugula.
  2. Korean BBQ Steak Bowls - This recipe has Korean beef, pickled carrot and cucumber salad, garlic scented rice, and sriracha mayo. It's magical.
  3. Cilantro Lime Turkey Quinoa Stuffed Peppers - I talked about being really big on cilantro lime over the last few years. This recipe is my favorite of all the cilantro lime recipes.
  4. Blueberry Nut Bread - I don't ever include breads or beverages in the main categories but I also don't post a lot of them. This year I barely posted any. This Blueberry Nut Bread is so dang good though that it kind of is like a blueberry muffin and a cake had a baby with banana nut bread but without the banana part!
  5. Grilled Butter Burgers - I don't think I ever thought I'd make a burger topped with butter, but here we are. Every burger needs some compound butter on it. Trust me.
  6. Greek Chicken Soulvaki with Lemon Rice - I went back and forth whether to share this recipe on main dishes and the Hawaiian Steak recipe here. But in the end, the lemon rice side dish pushed this recipe over the top and it had to make my favorite list.
  7. Chicken Bacon Alfredo Roll Ups - I have made this recipe so many times trying to get a good picture and I just can't. It's so hard to photograph and make look delicious. But this alfredo sauce is hands-down the best alfredo sauce in the world. Nothing can top it. Nothing.
  8. Pesto Spaghetti Carbonara - Here is the carbonara that I thought would make it to the most popular list. Maybe that's because I love pesto so dang much and just assume everyone else loves it as much as I do.
  9. Birthday Cake Macarons - These macarons had to make my favorites list. I cannot even begin to express how proud of myself I was for tackling and conquering this recipe the FIRST TIME!
  10. Mediterranean Meatball Gyro Sandwiches - And I had to leave my second favorite for last...we ate a lot of cilantro lime, a lot of ramen and ramen-like meals, and we ate a ton of Greek food. I need all the tomato, cucumber, and tzatziki. All the feta. Even though I'm the only one in the family that likes it LOL

Nick's Favorites (in order from most favorite to least most favorite)
  1. Pizza Meatloaf - Nick really loved this. It's his favorite meatloaf of all time.
  2. Creamy Spinach and Sausage Pasta - He said he really enjoyed the one pot pasta dishes with kielbasa.
  3. Grilled Butter Burgers - Like I said in my favorites list, every burger needs butter.
  4. Argentinean Burgers - A second burger made Nick's list and that is because he is obsessed with chimichurri sauce.
  5. Mississippi Pot Roast Cheesesteaks - He almost had the pecan cobbler on his list but he said he wanted to be consistent and choose main dishes. This recipe is a combination of two of his favorite things.

Matthew's Favorites (in order from most favorite to least most favorite)
  1. Chicken Bacon Alfredo Roll Ups - I knew this would make Matt's list. He got so excited every time I made them. Again...best alfredo sauce. I might also mention, these roll ups almost made Nick and Cami's lists too.
  2. Grilled Chicken and Bacon Pizza with Garlic Cream Sauce - This one really surprised me and now I feel like I definitely have to make it again soon. It's a great recipe and I don't have a lot of chicken pizza recipes that I like but this one is definitely one of the best.
  3. Rolo Ice Cream - Matt is definitely like his mother. Give him pasta. Give him chocolate. He's gonna be a happy camper.
  4. Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta -  I was actually also surprised that this made Matt's list. Although I think he said without the tomatoes.
  5. Pizza Meatloaf -  The boys really like this pizza meatloaf. I don't really get why. Not to say the recipe isn't good, but I would think their favorite would be the bacon-wrapped meatloaf. I guess they just really dig this one!

Cambria's Favorites (random order)
  1. Pork Schnitzel Sandwiches - Cami and I are obsessed with these sandwiches. She loves the spicy honey mustard and pickled shallots too.
  2. Mississippi Pot Roast Cheesesteaks -  This one was a little bit of a surprise but we all really liked them a whole lot so maybe it's not to surprising.
  3. Beef Stroganoff Soup - Cami love love loves beef stroganoff.
  4. Crockpot Caramelized Pork and Ramen Soup - Cami is an adventurous eater and so I definitely expected most of the recipes to be ones with super complex flavors. She adores ramen.
  5. Breakfast Crunchwraps - I expected these to be on Matt's list because he loves crunchwraps. But Cami is like the queen of breakfast foods and she really liked the breakfast version of the crunchwraps.

In case you missed it...
