Fantastical Friday

I'm excited to share my first Fantastical Friday post. This post will be a weekly one for me to share blog love (like my old Sunday Social posts), behind the scenes in my "personal" life, and everything in between. Basically, a giant miscellany post.

So first up...the most important and happy thing going on in my life right now:
THIS GUY IS HOME!!!

We surprised the kids - they had no clue he was coming home because he did actually come home a month early :)

He's spent the majority of 2013 in Afghanistan for his third deployment. We're so happy to have him home...happy doesn't even begin to explain it! We had a great Christmas and a really fun New Year's Eve that including a dance party and lots of good food.

Up next, I figured I'd take it easy for the first Fantastical Friday and share some of my new food finds from the last week...

Fantastical Finds - rounding up my 5 favorite finds this week from other bloggers! #recipes #bloglove

Left to right and top to bottom:

Giant Cinnamon Roll Cake from Sally's Baking Addiction.
My husband actually saw this while watching me pin and reached over me to pin it on the Nexus before I even saw it. I definitely would have pinned it when I saw it :)

Almond Joy Pancakes from The Lemon Bowl
These I saved back for Nick. He loves Almond Joys and I have a few recipes just for him, like a frappuccino, so I figure I can just keep on hoarding. This recipe is also gluten-free, not that we are GF, but it's always nice to mention in case someone out there reading is, in fact, GF.

Vanilla Bean Eggnog Bread from Will Cook For Smiles
I don't like eggnog, however, Nick and the kids do. But despite my distaste for eggnog, I am straight up drooling over this bread. It just looks SO GOOD! It looks so moist and I couldn't help but save it to make soon. I have some vanilla beans just waiting to be used.

Jalapeno Popper Totchos from I Wash You Dry
This is just a no-brainer for me to save to try also as soon as humanly possible. There is nothing about that picture that makes me doubt how incredible it's going to taste. It's got all the classic elements of jalapeno poppers with tatertots. I'm all in, folks.

Quinoa Veggie "Fried Rice" from Damn Delicious
Quinoa was new to me in 2013. I was able to get Nick to try it before the year ended and he was very surprised to like it. He's more into lower carbs than I am and I think that quinoa will appeal to him much more than rice or pasta anyways. So this is a healthier alternative to fried rice. Plus it's full of veggies which makes me a happy camper. Bring it on!

I hope you all loved the first edition of Fantastical Friday. Have a great weekend! See you all back on Monday for a yummy dessert recipe :)
