Fantastical Friday

This week has been extremely hectic. On Monday, the kids went to school and I went to run my errands (pick up Matthew's allergy meds and grocery shop)...no sooner did I get in the door from running errands that my phone rang saying school was getting out at 12:45 due to weather conditions getting worse. At this point, it was already snowing. Tuesday and Wednesday it continued to snow and the kids and Nick were home. Apparently, we got the most snow out of the whole state: 31 inches.

Left: Tuesday afternoon before shoveling.
Right: Wednesday afternoon, everything we had shoveled was back so we shoveled again.

Yesterday, Nick was delayed 2 hours for work and the kids went back to school on time.
Since everything is white, it's hard to see, but the piles of snow are taller than the kids.

So that was my week!
...

Today I decided to also share my favorite monthly subscription box/bag: IPSY!
What is Ipsy?

From the Ipsy site:
"Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month."

I'm not the most girly person and I can be pretty awful with beauty products, but I'm getting better with the help of bloggers/Youtubers and Ipsy. So here is what I got in my December glam bag:
Fantastical Friday: sharing my December #ipsy Glam Bag | #beauty #review

First off, I love the bag the goodies came in - it's been my favorite from the bags I've received so far :) Of the 5 products, three are absolutely amazing and affordable!

Be a Bombshell's The One Stick [in Girl Crush] - retails at $16 - via
This product is not pictured above. The color this came in was a pinky mauve and it honestly was just weird. It's not a flattering color for my blue eyes and it's too light for my lips. It might have been okay for blush (maybe a little too violet), but it was very thick and pasty for my tastes.

Nicka K New York's Nail Color [in Ripe Apple] - retails at $4.99 - via
This polish is SO pretty!! The red is such a pure deep red and it wears so shiny and pretty. The actual wear and tear (with me being hard on my hands) wasn't awful, but it wasn't the best either. I would definitely buy this brand again though. It's a great price and quality (for its price).

Demeter's Snow Perfume Oil Roll On - retails at $10 - via
As a person who has spent most of their life living in the North United States and just had 31 inches of snow (most in the state of New York) dumped on them, this smells nothing like snow. To me, this smells like what I use to wash my face. I didn't roll it on my skin since I have sensitive skin and react to perfumes, but I still smelled it. I prefer fruity or vanilla perfumes.

Nyx's Extra Creamy Round Lipstick [in B52] - retails at $4 - via
I'm not normally a lipstick fan. I'm just bad at finding the right color and most lipsticks I've purchased make my lips look chapped, even if they aren't. I received B52 and didn't expect to like it, but it has a very smooth application and looks and feels perfect for me :) I would definitely purchase more Nyx lipstick in the future!! Here's a little swatch of the color:

POP Beauty's Bright Up Your Life Eye Shadow Trio [in Naturally Bare] - retails at $24 for full palette of 10 colors - via
I adore brown/gold/copper/tan neutral shades for eyeshadow. They make my blue eyes pop and they can be so subtle at the same time. This eye shadow has great opacity and goes on smoothly.

Total retail value of my glam bag: $34.99 plus whatever value the 3-palette eyeshadow would be.
